Monica T. Johnson
MIND.BODY.AWAKENED.
Hi, I’m Monica. Or you can call me Mojo.
My own journey began with movement. I started my career as a ballet dancer and eventually took my talents to Europe, where I spent several years immersed in the performing arts and modeling industries. Living abroad opened a window into different cultures and different ways of seeing the world. It also awakened my curiosity about personal growth, spirituality, and the connection between the mind and body.
That curiosity led me to study movement therapy in London. When I returned to the United States, my focus shifted toward helping others on their own paths of healing and self-discovery.
Since 1999, I’ve worked with women one-on-one and through women’s circles, book groups, and workshops, drawing from yoga, meditation, breath work, spiritual guidance, and holistic mind-body wellness. Helping women through life’s transitions, and watching them step into more ease, clarity, and joy, has been one of the greatest honors of my life.
I’m also the creator of Rest Awake Meditation and Rest Awake Yoga, gentle, down-to-earth practices designed to meet you where you are. No need to twist yourself into a pretzel or pretend you have everything figured out.
Today I specialize in working with women over fifty who are navigating life changes, whether those changes involve hormones, health, relationships, emotional stress, a shifting identity, or the persistent feeling that there must be something more.
Ayurveda has also become an important part of my work and my own life. This time-honored system supports the whole person through food, daily rhythms, herbs, movement, and self-awareness. It supported me through menopause and midlife, and I’m excited to share it with other women in a way that feels practical and doable. Because honestly, none of us needs one more impossible wellness routine.
My work with women, along with my own sometimes graceful and sometimes ungraceful experience of life after fifty, inspired me to write my first book, Queen, Not Crone. It’s a humorous, real, and insightful guide for women navigating the physical, emotional, and spiritual changes of midlife, blending relatable personal stories with Ayurvedic wisdom, practical tips, and a little mojo. My hope is to help women understand the surprising changes happening in their bodies, reconnect with their vitality, and approach aging with confidence instead of fear.
Because midlife is not the beginning of the end. It may be the beginning of becoming the woman you were always meant to be.
What I Believe
I believe the wisdom you need is already within you. Sometimes it just needs a little support to help it shine through.
After many years of guiding others and walking my own winding path, I’ve learned that real peace and healing don’t come from chasing success, seeking approval, or constantly striving for the next big thing. They come from turning inward, reconnecting with your own truth, and being true to who you are.
WE ALL WANT THE SAME THING
…to be happy. Why not allow yourself to be supported along the way?
